Spring Grove Cemetery was accepted into the National Park Service National Underground Railroad Network to Freedom in 2022.

On May 10, 2024, Friends of the Cemetery will be commemorating the efforts of H.G. and Elizabeth Blake and Lt. Col. Herman and Sarah Ann Martha Canfield in assisting freedom seekers along the Underground Railroad in the mid-1800s.

Please join us as we honor the Blakes and Canfields by sharing their stories, unveiling new signage, and welcoming their families and others in the Medina community.

This event is free and open to the public. It will take place in Section 5 of Spring Grove Cemetery.

The 2023 Spring Grove Arboretum Walk will take place on Saturday, October 21 from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. This year we are offering two tours of the arboretum with Arborist Chad Clink. The first tour starts at 2:00 and the second one at 3:00 at the east side of the cemetery at the Mears Building or if you’d rather, take a solo walk through the arboretum at your own pace. Tour maps, water bottles and a scavenger hunt will be offered to all walkers. Don’t forget to bring your camera or phone to snap that winning picture for our photo contest! This is a free event and is family, pet, wheelchair, wagon and stroller friendly! The walk will be held rain or shine – see you there!

Our annual Membership Meeting will be held on Sunday, September 10 at 2:00 p.m. at the beautiful Spring Grove chapel. Make plans now to attend!

This year’s Historical Walk will be held at Old Town Graveyard on Saturday, August 19 at 1:00 p.m.  We will host a guided tour of the graveyard, Medina’s oldest burial grounds, with stops along the way at gravesites where presenters will tell the stories of several buried at Old Town.  This is a free event and open to the public.  There is plenty of free parking at the County Administration lot located next to Old Town.  This will be a rain or shine event. .  Please take note that in order to reach gravesites at Old Town, we will be walking on uneven ground turf.  Access by wheelchairs, strollers and/or wagons is only via the concrete sidewalk that traverses the graveyard and all wheeled vehicles must remain on that sidewalk.
