Encampment a huge success.

The Spring Grove Encampment was a great success!  The Friends of the Cemetery wish to thank all the visitors who attended the Encampment.  There was such great community spirit throughout the day with folks visiting and enjoying one another’s company while relaxing at the hospitality tent or watching one of our wonderful re-enactors perform and share their story.  We thank the City of Medina administration as well as members of City Council who took such an active part and the Spring Grove Cemetery staff who did such a beautiful job preparing the grounds.  We thank our 100+ volunteers because without their overwhelming on-site support, the event would not have been possible.  We also thank our many partners who provided services that promoted and enhanced the event.  These included Medina City Schools, Medina County District Library, Marc Milinkovich & Denise Shell, American Legion Post 202, Oddfellows, Medina Breakfast Kiwanis, St. Francis Xavier Church, Main Street Medina, Medina County Historical Society, Medina Bicentennial Celebration Committee, Medina City Cemetery Commission, Friends of Medina Memorial Park & Pool, Bill Buether Photography, Icandi Graphics, and Marketing with Integrity. The idea for a Civil War encampment was conceived during planning meetings of Medina’s Bicentennial Celebration Committee as early as 2015.

After the great success of the Encampment, it is likely the Friends of the Cemetery will plan future events at Spring Grove Cemetery.  In the meantime, we encourage you to enjoy the beauty, peacefulness and serenity of Spring Grove on a regular basis.
